The final chapter of Andrew’s 04 FXT Build

We have reached the final chapter for the 04 XT build. You will find out why in the next blog I do (Andrew). The VF39 and tune did wonders for the car. Installation was smooth and we found a decent amount of oil in the old turbo re assuring our diagnosis that the car was eating oil due to the turbo being bad.

The VF39 was installed the oil changed and from there it was a shoot down to see Jay Perry who was our in house tuner and engine builder when we had a location down in Wareham Mass. Jay does wonders with Subaru; whether it be a humble street car like my Forester or a ¼ mile beast like his 600+ WHP STi. Jay was happy to tune the red beast and it left his place more of a sleeper than ever before. The VF39 is the perfect application for anyone on the fence about a turbo upgrade or someone who simply wants to stay conservative with their build. I mean hey its OEM in the STi!

Above is an image of the FXT when I first got it pre coilover ride height.

The cool thing about the Forester XT is for this upgrade you do not need to upgrade your fuel injectors; you can simply leave them alone. A larger top mount intercooler and a fuel pump are suggested. We prefer the DW fuel pump and a OEM STi top mount intercooler (Or AMR). This keeps things more affordable from a labor perspective and parts costs. Don’t forget about a downpipe too COBB is a great high quality option.

Overall the Forester build is cost effective efficient and affordable. Great daily driver/ commuter to and from work every day fun on exit ramps ( ISC coilovers) and the ultimate sleeper. As I have said in prior blogs I have owned every modern day Subaru there is (except Baja) and this car is probably my favorite thus far!
