Product Spotlight: Perrin E4-Series Equal Length Headers

Perrin has just release their latest version of their Equal Length Headers. This time they have dubbed them the E4-Series. This series of headers comes in a normal sized Equal Length variant as well as a Big Tube Variant that makes more Horespower. Both are lovely looking pieces and have Perrin’s quality welds and are made of 304 Stainless Steel. Perrin has always impressed us, and that’s why we use a lot of their products. We still currently have their previous version of the big tube headers on our RSTi.

Above: The Perrin E4-Series Big Tube Equal Length Header

The Perrin Performance Equal Length Headers are not simply a re package of their previous variants, they are a totally new re-designed package. The collectors have been re-designed so that there is improved exhaust flow. They also now feature a lower profile design so that there is more ground clearance.

77

These headers are also sized correctly to make more power. They are not grossly oversized to “look” impressive. The smaller header utilizes 1.5″ primary tubing that is expanded at the flange to fit the Subaru exhaust port size. This is perfect for cars with up to 400 WHP. For cars looking to surpass that we recommend the big tube header. The Big tube Header uses 1.625″ Primary tubing. This header is designed for cars making upwards of 500 WHP.

88

The flanges are another great selling point on these headers. These headers are machines from 304 stainless steel and counter-bored on the back side to make smooth transitions. They are also sized correctly to ensure they matte up correctly and to provide proper flow.

These headers also provide a great sound and have a high quality finish. Perrin Performance provides a brushed stainless steel look for it’s parts. As a note, individuals using a 2.0 L WRX will need to utilize the 2.5l oil pan for proper fit.

Perrin Performance really has a high quality product here that we are looking forward to selling. We’re glad to see them continually move forward and improve their products and we cannot wait to see what they bring to the table for their next big product. Questions about the product? Product Spotlight: 08-14 WRX and STi Coilovers by ISC Suspension

We talk about ISC Suspension a lot here at AJW Performance it’s primarily because we are such huge fans of their products! ISC Suspension has been creating quality and affordable coilovers for quite a few years now. They know what people want and they find ways to give it to them without breaking the bank or cutting corners. Their coilovers for the 2008 – 2014 WRX and STi are no exception. These two vehicles (WRX, and STi) have been huge sellers for Subaru in the past few years. The GE, GV, GH, and GR have been some of the best sellers for AJW Performance over the past few years. Primarily we see the most demand coming from the GR and GV crowd. Introducing the Widebody to the WRX was a great move on Subaru, and allowed Subaru owners with WRX’s to have a great looking car with a little bit more wheel base.

ISC Suspension’s coilovers for the GR and GV WRX really have the ability to slam the car. They offer up to three inches of adjustability and at max height the rear coilovers are just above tucking tire. If you’re looking for a kit to get low these are them! They’re also good for track use though and can also obtain stock ride height with a different coilover shaft. If that’s something you want just make sure to tell us!

S008

The coilovers for the 2008 – 2014 WRX and STi feature 32 way adjustable damping as well as independent pre-load and adjustable ride height.

The official description for these coilovers can be found below:

The ISC N1 Coilover system is the optimum suspension tool for improved handling for your street, track, or drift car. This product is perfect for someone looking for performance, adjustability, and other high quality features in a package that will not break the bank. ISC coilovers are also 100% rebuildable!

Our Self Manufactured N1 allows us to have top grade quality control and innovative R&D capabilities due to our in house/self-made company dynamic. ISC Suspension utilizes some of the best modern engineering techniques and suspension design. ISC has been present in the world for over 13 years and has accomplished drift, road course, street, and other various podiums alike. Over a decade of experience, knowledge, engineering, and feedback have shaped the ISC N1 system into what it is today. All ISC Coilover systems are proudly serviced and distributed in Gilford, NH.

Details:
ISO9001:2000R Certified
ARTC Certified

Warranty:
ISC warranties its coilover systems to the ORIGINAL PURCHASER against defects in workmanship and material for 5 years. Product registration is required, for more details visit here: Warranty

Adjustable Damping:
ISC Coilovers all come with 32 way adjustable damping that is rebound and compression in unison via 32 step adjustment.

Single Cylinder Mono-tube Design:
Large cylinder and piston design work hand in hand to increasing driving stability and dexterity. ISC utilizes a mono-tube design damper, not twin tube like other manufacturers. Mono-tube dampers provide consistent valving and much less potential for cavitation. They are also high pressure to reduce body roll, and are 100% efficient through all temperatures. Our larger pistons also allows more oil which provides better damping control and the ability to absorb higher forces. All ISC Dampers also utilize a double o-ring to prevent leaks.

WRX-STi

Multiple Valving Options:
ISC Suspension offers three valving options to choose from, street comfort, street sport, and track race.

Street Comfort is designed to feel close to OEM and is the most comfortable valving that we offer. If you are looking for a mild drop and comfortable ride this is for you!

Street Sport is designed to be above OEM, and is more aggressive and ideal for street, drift, and occasional autocross. If you’re looking to bring your car to its limits on the street, this one is for you!

Track Race is our most aggressively valved and is suggested for road course, slammed show cars, and some form of drifting. If you are installing these coilovers on a dedicated weekend track car, this option is for you!

ISC also offers custom valving, please contact for an accurate ETA.

Piston Rod Design:
ISC utilizes high rigidity steel piston rods that meet all race and sport standards. ISC shafts are valved according to the spring rate chosen by the customer. A shock dyno is used to ensure quality and consistent results. All ISC dampers are 100% fully rebuildable.

Upper Mounts:
For optimal performance pillowball upper mounts are a great feature. ISC includes these upper mounts of all N1 Systems.

Front Camber Plates:
When your vehicle’s suspension geometry allows (vehicle specific, please check our application guide) all ISC N1’s come with adjustable camber plates standard.

Thrust Bearings:
While many coilover companies charge for thrust bearings ISC does not. These come standard on all N1 coilovers and help to eliminate spring bind; a common side effect of utilizing aftermarket coilovers.

Sport Spring:
ISC Suspension offers a variety of different spring’s rates. Our springs are made from high quality SAE9254 Steel. They are dyno tested over 500,000 times on a compression inspection with less than 5% deformation. We are fully capable of offering custom spring rates as well! Every driver is different and we understand some may need custom spring rates.
Swift springs also available as an upgrade visit here for more information: Swift Springs

Ride Height Adjustable:
Full length height adjustability. Most applications can achieve 3 inches or more. High quality T6061 aluminum allow used for all adjustment locks to provide a lightweight design that holds spring and vehicle force down.

Bound Adjustable with Separate Spring Locks:
Preload is separate from ride height; the lower you go the quality of the ride stays the same!

Aluminum Brackets:
Made from T6061 aluminum allow by organic shaping to lighten weight and increase handling performance. ISC Gold or Black anodized surfaces help to prevent corrosion and surface rust. Most applications also feature mounting points for OEM brake line installation.

ISC Suspension now Offering BRZ/FRS Drift Bars!

ISC Suspension is always coming out with new and innovative products. To continue their drifting oriented products and following a great year of Clubloose North Drifting they are now release the Drift Bar that they used during the season to the public. This Drift Bar is amde of the same material and in the same process as the one that was on their drift BRZ. It’s a solid piece and looks and feel great on the car. It fits right under the front bumper like an OEM crash bar and is much more secure than the bar that the car comes with. It is worthwhile to note that this is for people who drift or track their car. This is not a replacement for the OEM crash bar and has not been tested in front end collisions. However it is great for avoiding barriers as well as tire barriers :).

IMG_1628

The drift bar comes in a raw finish, but it is ready for you to send it to the powdercoater and have it match your vehicle. ISC Suspension is also selling their pre-painted WRB bar here.

BRZDriftBar_5

The World Rally Blue bar can be seen above on ISC’s BRZ. It matches really well and allows you to still use the OEM bumper! What can be better than that?

The Bar has the following specifications:

  • Requires no modification
  • Fits under bumper
  • Comes in raw finish
  • Replaces OEM crash bar, increases protection of critical areas and protects more than the OEM
  • MIG welded
  • Machine rolled
  • Waterjet flanges
  • Pricing Starts at $225
  • Our Price: $195!

BRZDriftBar_3

The bar has professional level welds to keep the entire thing together. It also has water jet cut flanges for a clean crisp line. The Bends are made by an Ercolina Rolling Machine to ensure a high level of quality and a slight clean bend.

This bar is really nice and is coming in a limited availability capacity. ISC is waiting to see if the product picks up and if it does to produce more of these. They are limited, so gets yours now from AJW Performance. You can find the bar at the following link here. We can be contacted at info@ajwperformanceproducts.com or 603-715-9076! Debunking Cracked’s Car Myths

A friend of mine recently shared an Article by Cracked.com about 6 “myths” when it comes to your vehicle. After reading this article I was upset that my friend who is not an automotive fan would believe some of the things written in the article. Now it wasn’t all fiction, there are a few things that I do agree with in the article. However I felt it was necessary to put some good info down in an article for those who many not be as informed.

Change Your Oil Every 3,000 Miles:

The first thing on Cracked’s list was basically saying most vehicles can go up to about 15,000 miles without changing their oil. The article states that with new technology today oil can go till about 15,000 miles. Now I will agree that some vehicles and some oil can last until the 5,000 mark. I have not heard any vehicles or oils that last 15,000 miles though. Many of us drive high performance vehicles that deserved to be maintained, skipping oil changes means you are going to end up looking like this.

engine of an audi tt without oil change from i.imgur.com

The good news is that we can change your oil here. Our Subaru Synthetic Oil Changes start at $45 for most vehicles.

Warm Up Your Engine Before You Drive:

According to Cracked.com as long as you are not flooring it everywhere you are fine when it comes to starting your car and driving. Now while you do not need to fully warm your car up to operating temp every-time you start it you should let the car warm up at least a little bit when you are cold starting your car. Performance vehicles and even normal vehicles need to warm up a little bit before they are driven. There is a reason Subaru has an actual light on the dashboard for this in their vehicles. Warm your car up! Don’t listen to cracked!

f02fb2d90a0d028a002219b48e0a02d3

Fuel Additives are Good for Your Engine:

I agree with this, they are not really good for your engine. There are some oil additives that are useful though, and octane booster may help gas if your car is required to take 93 but you can only find 91.

Image-fuel-additives

Get Regular Engine Tuneups:

This one I 100% disagree with. Cracked states that you should not get engine tuneups because your computer in the car adjust everything to a point. This is true, but only to a point. You need to get regular checkups and scheduled maintenance on your car. Spark plugs and air filter elements do need to be changed and your car does need to be taken care of. If you have a performance car this is even more important, there are so many small things that can go wrong and your car should be checked out every so often to make sure everything is running correctly.

We also recommend pre-tune checks for your vehicle if you are looking to get it tuned. Rates start as low as $75 per hour. Contact us to schedule your appointment!

You Need to Winterize Your Vehicle:

Another one I do not agree with. While Cracked does mention snow tires and a few other things it discusses how motor oil is all the same and can work in all temperatures. Certain motor oils do still get changed in the winter time and smart individuals know that you need a thinner oil viscosity for winter time. Oil does get thicker in the winter time. It is true and you should change your oil if you are in a harsh environment.

Winterize_Car_web

If you’re in New England this is important, AJW Performance can get you Winter Tires and more for your Subaru. Contact us today and we can consult with you to get your car ready to go.

High-Octane Gasoline is Better for Your Engine:

This one really grinds my gears (pun intended). If your car is tuned or calls for 93, then use 93. It’s not a myth it’s a fact that can really cost you money if you decide to not listen to it. Regular cars don’t need premium fuel, this is true but a tuned WRX or STi or any vehicle that calls for 93 octane needs 93 octane. Lower grades of fuel can cause detonation and knocking. Read your owners manual to make sure you don’t need 93!

Thanks for reading, we thought it was important to get this information out. While Cracked is not a very reliable news source almost anybody will believe what they read on the internet today! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call AJW Performance and we will go out of our way to try and help you!

Brett Haynes BRZ Coilover Install

This week we had the opportunity to work on a clean 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited. Brett purchased the coilovers from us during our Black Friday event and got a great deal on the coilovers and on the labor and the alignment.

The Subaru BRZ is a formidable track vehicle. It’s been designed to be that way and it handles great but there is always room for improvement. We fitted Brett’s BRZ with a set of ISC N1 Coilovers. We utilized the street sport option since Brett wasn’t actively tracking the car all the time. Street Sport is a great option for those individuals who want to have a lowered car that handles great but also won’t break your back being super stiff. They are just stiff enough to notice a difference but comfortable enough for the street.

89474E02-80A1-4A43-8854-1DBEC2C08A61_zpsfrbue185

When Bretts car arrived it had a noticeable lift due to the 18 inch wheels that he had fitted on the car. Sometimes adding larger wheels does the opposite of what you want, and the car ends up looking higher than it ideally should. Brett had a specific style with Yellow TSW wheels. The vehicle was nice and the BRZ Limited is a great platform to build off of. The Limited features leather and Alcantra wrapped seats, a great navigation system, toggle style gauges and even an armrest!

We got to work installing the coilovers which did not take long. Thanks to our full service facility we were able to install the coilovers, coilover covers, and rear extenders and move right into the alignment. We love to be able to offer these alignment services to our customers because then they don’t need to go elsewhere for an alignment and risk hurting their tires. We’ve heard the horror stories about people waiting too long to get their car alignment and their tires end up getting unevenly worn. That isn’t the case here at AJW Performance!

_MG_6115

Once the alignment was complete is was time for a quick test drive. The care handles like it’s on rails now and we were happy to report another successful install! If anyone is looking for a coilover install don’t hesitate to reach out to AJW Performance! 603-715-9076

The Ford Focus ST

One of the newest vehicles that AJW Performance has been proud to add to it’s line card is the Ford Focus ST.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/2015-Ford-Focus-ST-diesel-PLACEMENT2-626x382.jpg

The Modern Ford Focus ST debuted in the Summer of 2012. The vehicle originally came with 252 BHP from a turbocharged 2.0l Ecoboost engine. The Ford Focus ST is still around today and it is a highly popular car now in the automotive community. With simple bolt on the vehicle can be a true powerhouse and even through it is a FWD vehicle it is fast and feels great. The new Ford Focus ST is a true Hot Hatch and can be traced back to European Styling.

The Ford Focus itself has quite the history. It grew to eventually passed the Toyota Corolla to become the world’s best selling automobile nameplate. It replaced the Ford Escort which was known as one of Fords Rally Cars. The Focus was available starting in 1998. It’s had three generations to grow into the type of vehicle that it is today and has deep ties to the European Market. For a short period of time the Ford Focus ST was only sold in Europe and when the Ford Focus ST was announced Ford decided to consolidate their models and allow America to the have the same sporty models as Europe.

Thankfully Ford has finally listened to us and released the Ford Focus ST for North America and Europe. We can now all enjoy the sporty looks of the Ford Focus at an affordable price! For customers who already have a Ford Focus, please check our our dedicated Ford Focus Section that can be found here: Ford Focus Store

Thank you for reading, next week we discuss the Ford Fiesta ST!

Subaru Wheel Spacers by ISC Suspension

AJW Performance is proud to bring you the best products in the industry. At the front of the Wheel Spacer game is ISC Suspension. They have been making Wheel Spacers and Adapters for years. ISC Suspension began with Wheel Adapters that changed the bolt pattern of a 5X100 to 5X114.3 so WRX owners and other 5X100 equipped Subarus could run STi wheels. STi wheels are often a nicer offset and are usually a lighter and more aesthetically pleasing wheel.

WSNS25B

After the initial success of their Wheel Adapters ISC Suspension began branching out into other makes and models. Their first stop was once again, Subaru. ISC Suspension decided to make spacers for 5X100 to 5X100 and 5X114.3 to 5X114.3. They are available in 15 or 25mm and are available in a flat matte black finish. They come with high grade 10.9 hardware and they are fully 56.1 hubcentric. No plastic hub rings here, only true machined 7075 light weight Aluminum. Wheel Spacers make a great addition to any car especially if you are trying to get your car to look just a little bit wider. For those that have 11+ WRX/STi’s a 15mm Wheel Adapter will really assist with getting your OEM wheels to fill out those factory wide body fenders.

Wheel Spacers REPRESENTATIVE PHOTO

ISC Wheel Spacers are sold in pairs unlike their Wheel Adapters so you will need to purchase 2. MSRP on them are $150 per pair, but they are available on AJW Performance for the low price of $137! You can find them here: Wheel Spacers and Adapters

For tips on how to install, check out ISC’s youtube video here:
