Feb 27th- Headgasketshttp://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com Valve Work + More

Daniel owns this 2002 WRX which was having some miss fires. He brought it in to AJW Performance for some diagnostic work.

We changed the spark plugshttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com did a compression checkhttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com coil packs and a few other tests and confirmed that cylinder #4 had something seriously wrong. After removing the head we found one of the valves had a significant piece missinghttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com so it was time for some head work. While the motor was pulled we decided to do the other head gasket. We discovered that the head had several cracks in ithttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com so this was taken care of as well of course.

For Parts:

OEM head gaskets

ARP studs

OEM valve

Feb 23 2012- Ball Jointshttp://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com Downpipes/Uppipeshttp://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com Tuning + Turbos!

The best part about having such a great day at the shop is writing about it to share with everyone else.

Today we attacked in full forcehttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com overflowing our workspace in the shop more work had to be performed in the parking lot! It will be time for that larger building sooner than we thought!

The Black 2003 Legacy GT:

Tyler’s legacy came in to AJW Performance a couple months ago for some engine workhttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com and a clutch kit. Since then he has upgraded/ replaced his ball joints and tie rods with some brand new OEM ones which we supplied him from Subaru. Ball joint installations on Subaru’s are hit or misshttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com sometimes they take 2 hourshttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com sometimes they are frozen and fight you every step of the way and take 6.

The 2005 Subaru Outback XT

Just the other day we did a 60https://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com000 mile service on this outback for Chip. Chip just picked the car uphttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com and wanted us to run through it. He also wanted to do some upgrades. We set him up with a downpipehttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com uppipehttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com and tune to get his power up to par and to make that grocery getter a true sleeper.  His AJW Performance street tune allows for more flowhttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com and better fuel economy paired with his new catless uppipe and downpipe.

A couple of things to take care of with these vehicles are the catted OEM uppipeshttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com and the banjo screen/filter.It is best to remove both of these potential time bombs with a catless up pipehttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com and removing the screen completely. When the screen gets clogged with particles the turbo blowshttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com often followed by the motorhttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com so needless to say this is the true definition of precautionary maintencance which our knowedgable tech’ s and sources can do for our customers.

Blue WRX outside

The WRX just got finished being built by us here at AJW Performance. We did a new 2011 STi short blockhttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com paired with some nice CP forged pistons and ARP head studs. The vehicle is getting a stock turbo for engine break inhttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com then we are going bigger with it shortly after!

Agency Power Exhaust Installed On 996

996 Exhaust Clip

We installed a Agency Power stainless exhaust system on the 1999 996 C4 recently.

The car has a great tone and much better throttle response throughout the powerband. Agency power offers great fitmenthttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com at a price which will not break the bank either (Around 800.00 for the system). This system allows for the use of the OEM tipshttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com or aftermarket tips if you would like as well. AJW Performance is an Agency Power dealer.

What’s New Today? Coiloverhttp://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com HIDhttp://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com Exhaust + Tuning! Feb 4 2012

Today we installed some ISC Coilovers on Matt’s 08 WRX. Matt is a great customer of ours and already has some nice work done to his car that we have performed in the pasthttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com such as a VF52https://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com Injectorshttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com Turbo Back Exhausthttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com and more.

Ryan’s legacy came in this afternoon as well. We did a street tune and a downpipehttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com as well as HID’s.

A downpipe and tune really wake these legacy gt’s uphttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com making the car a lot of fun to drive.

The downpipe of choice is an Invidiahttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com paired with an AJW Performance street tune.

Feb 2 2012- Compression and Leak Down Tests

In the past couple weeks we have performed a handful of compression checks and leak down tests on customer’s vehicles.

These are a great diagnostic toolhttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com but also great for someone who wants to take their vehicle to the next level but wants to make sure the motor is mechanically sound.

It also make sense to do the spark plugs at the same timehttps://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com We use NGK stock heat or one step colder plugs for our customers here at AJW Performance. Leak tests start at 25.00https://ajwperformanceproductsblog.com and compression checks start at 85.00.
